OPENING NIGHT - The Migrating Mural Begins NOW!

Opening Night! from Jane Kim on Vimeo.

As promised, we’ve created a special video of last Thursday’s art opening at The Bone Room Presents.

It was a wonderful turn-out. We celebrated the Migrating Mural and the guests had the opportunity to meet biologists from the Sierra Nevada Bighorn Sheep Foundation the California Department of Fish and Game’s Sierra Bighorn Recovery Program.

One of the Migrating Mural’s main objectives is public outreach and this opening was a wonderful way to kick things off!

But let’s not forget the power of social media. Kickstarter has allowed me to reach the public in a way I never expected and I am continually grateful for the wide spread reach this platform has provided.

Because of Kickstarter, I now have 381 backers who are a part of this, 1371 people who like this project through Facebook, and a number of media outlets such as KQED who just posted a piece today!

Please continue to spread the word by sharing this link of the video from Opening Nighthttp://kck.st/Tnff5H

The more people we reach, the more likely the remaining three murals will be funded and with the success of the Migrating Mural comes public support for this animal and the agencies trying to recover them.

Pass the Opening Night video to all those people you know who care about art, who care about wildlife and want to be a part of something that fosters good things for both.

LET'S FUND THE WHOLE PROJECT!!!

WEEK ONE was incredible thanks to everyone who donated, tweeted, posted, emailed and talked about the project. Thank you to the media, which has embraced the Migrating Mural. And thank you to the community of Kickstarter!

My goal for the Kickstarter was to fund the very first mural of a series of four, and I didn't anticipate that I'd meet that goal in the first week of the campaign.

Now there is a real opportunity to FUND the ENTIRE PROJECT!!!

If the Migrating Mural can find $2250 worth of backing each day for the next 20 days, ALL FOUR MURALS WILL BE FUNDED!

If you are in the Bay Area, please join me in a celebration at The Bone Room Presents for an art opening called The Art of Conservation by Jane Kim. Read about the show in a recent post by 7x7 Magazine.

There is a very special piece in the exhibit called "Disappearance Reappearance." Though bighorns remain endangered, their rebound in recent decades will be celebrated through a display of 11 bighorn skulls, representing the 11 sheep in the recently-discovered fledgling Esha Peak herd.

Also on display are studies, sketches, new work and old to help fund the Migrating Mural: Chapter One - Sierra Nevada Bighorn Sheep.
