MORE TAXIDERMY SPLENDOR

Last week, our class took a field trip to another natural history museum in Pacific Grove called the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History with a wonderful taxidermy collection of birds and mammals.  There is also a great collection of insects and other neat artifacts.  The admission is free so if you are in the area and are interested in that sort of thing, it is well worth visiting!  The winter is also a great time to visit Pacific Grove because Monarch butterflies migrate there until about February.  Below are a couple of pages out of my sketchbook of bird bills and beaks that I drew at the museum.

Evidently, bills and beaks are not synonymous.  Meat eating birds who tear their meat have beaks while all other birds have bills.  Never knew that until recently.
